Traditional Kuih Murukku Putu Mayam Maker Press
This is a set of brand new quality professional murukku maker made of quality hard polycarbonate. Set includes 8 (eight) different decorative disks.
This murukku maker comes with 2 (two) elements - one for containing the dough and the other attachment which presses / rotate.
HOW TO USE:
A) Basic putu mayyam recipe:
+ 2 cups water
+ 1 tsp salt
+ 1 tbsp corn oil (dab to avoid dough sticking on leaves)
+ 2 cups rice flour
+ banana leaves
+ Fine brown sugar OR palm sugar
+ white grated coconut mixed with 1 pinch of salt
Turn the mould in a circular pattern, letting dough rope fall on a banana leaf - the mound of dough should not be too thick nor too thin. Then steam for 2-3 min ... serve with grated coconut mixed with a pinch of salt. Many folks also serve with brown sugar OR palm sugar.
B) Basic murukku recipe
+ Rice Flour - 1/2 cup
+ Rava(Sooji) - 1/4 cup
+ Butter - 1/2 tbsp
+ Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp
+ Black Sesame Seeds - 1/2 tsp
+ Salt (to taste)
+ Oil (to deep fry)
+ Water (as required)
Fill press with dough and press into small murukkus onto a laddle then flip into heated oil. In fact, you can even press it directly into the oil.
